About the Artist

Artist Statement:
The majority of my formative years were spent on an isolated island off the rocky Maine coast. Wandering its shorelines and studying its horizons inspired in me a love of the natural world that especially influences my work. By personally hand-cutting the stained glass I work with, I am able to create line and flow exactly where I desire, utilizing a variety of color, texture and shape. Mosaic art is, to me, a way to bring the outside in, and often a way to bring a touch of those dreamy childhood seascapes to my current inland home. I find I am most fulfilled when I can, with my own hands, recreate the images of my youth and imagination, through the meditative process of mosaic art.

Creating a stained glass mosaic begins with the selection of one of my personal photographs or drawings. Color selections are carefully made, after which each glass piece is  tediously hand-cut and formed.  As the mosaic takes on a life of its own, each piece is glued to the substrate and grouted.  Select art is then finished with a handmade custom oak frame.
